INTERNATIONAL WAKEBOARD/WAKESKATE CHAMPIONSHIPS

Club Marine is one of the sponsors of the 2012 Europe and Africa Wakeboard/Wakeskate Championships - expected to be one of the most spectacular championships ever staged – which is taking place from February 15th to the 18th at Emerald Resorts and Casino on the Vaal River.  Official practice starts on Saturday, Feb 11 – Tues, Feb 14 and the opening ceremony and start of the championships takes place on Wedsnesday, Feb 15 - Saturday, Feb 18.

Don’t miss the electrifying action as world-class wakeboard and wakeskaters give it their all with breathtaking manoeuvres which will thrill spectators.

This exciting annual event is being hosted by South Africa for the first time and will feature around 130 of the world’s best riders competing for the title of Wakeboard/Wakeskate Europe and Africa Champion.


Fifteen countries have confirmed their participation and each country selects eight athletes who compete for Titles in 12 age-group categories. Ages will range from Under 9 through to Regional, World Games and former World Champions in Open Men and Women.

Their final placements in their categories earn team points which are accumulated to determine the overall team placement.

This year, Israel and Namibia will take part for the first time and hot favourites Italy will be defending their Overall Team Title. They are the reigning champions and have a team consisting of two current world champions, one silver medal and two bronze medal riders in their team.

The South African Pro Tour series also started  in Vereeniging last weekend Feb 3 – 5 - so look out for these very exciting events still to come:
