As woman’s month 2016 fades into history – our spotlight shines brightly on Caryne Duvenhage – bringing sharply into focus one of the best known business woman in our industry,
A passionate boater, Springbok waterskier, accomplished boat sales consultant and marine insurance specialist – Caryne is clearly not your average woman “behind the scenes”.
One could say she was born for boating! Her mother was eight months pregnant with her and still waterskiing and so her love story with watersports began.
Skiing at only three years old and achieving national colours for Barefooting by 13, Caryne was well set up for a successful future in the business of boating.
Considering her heritage this comes as no surprise! Grandad Arnie was a Springbok powerboat racer, father Derrick and brother Dean are both Springbok waterskiers, avid fisherman and marine industry stalwarts.
So Caryne, continuing in this legacy of achievement in both watersport and the marine business, is as natural as a duck in water.
Outdoor adventure, scuba diving, deep sea fishing, exploring Mozambique are just a few of her favourite past times when she’s not hard at work.
Caryne heads up a team of highly qualified insurance specialists at Club Marine which was established in 1985. At the time they were the only brokerage to offer standalone Watercraft insurance in South Africa. Today, they have one of the largest Watercraft books in the country.
Their comprehensive product range also includes: Marine Cargo Import, Export and GIT, as well as Charter operators, Boat Builders Risk, Commercial Business and Personal lines extending to Caravans, 4 x 4 Vehicles and Motorbikes.
Caryne has gone to great lengths to select the best insurers and underwriters in niche markets and has formed long-standing relationships to the benefit of her clients. Her company is backed by leading insurers such as Hollard, Santam, Mutual & Federal and others.
