Misinformation is a slippery slope when it comes to towing. This guide gives trustworthy advice to help you tow legally, avoid breakdowns and stay claim-free.

Your trailer must be registered and roadworthy with working brakes and an inflated, dedicated spare wheel – your car spare tyre won’t do.
Wheel bearings: service minimum annually unless you have oil filled axles – stick to manufacturers service intervals (keep your slips/invoices as proof).  

The trailer coupler is rated; larger boats have heavy duty tow hitches - up to 5-ton capacity. Check your trailer hitch is suitable for the weight of your vessel and trailer.

Vehicle: Check the plate on the inside of your door – for your towing capacity rating. Alternatively, your boat and trailer weight combined with your vehicle weight should not exceed the GVM of your vehicle.

NATAL POWER BOATS - BEACH CLEAN-UP (Saturday, Sept 20)

Natal Power Boats recently organised a Beach clean-up at Durban Skiboat Club! CMI joined volunteers who enjoyed an interesting talk on the Puffer Fish - by Jama from Breathe Ocean Conservancy.  They then hit the beach armed with surgical gloves and black refuse bags and braved hectic wind and sand to collect loads of litter.

UMHLANGA FESTIVAL SPONSORS DINNER (Thursday, Sept 04)

Umhlanga Skiboat Club hosted their 'thank you' dinner for the sponsors of their Skiboat Festival this evening! CMI's Megan and Cathi enjoyed relaxing with friends, dealers and Brand Ambassadors!

4 X 4 & OUTDOOR SHOW (September 6 - 7)

CMI’s stand buzzed with action at ‘The South African 4 x 4 & Outdoor Show’ at Zwartkops Raceway in Centurion!  On display were the latest 4 x 4 vehicle accessories, helicopter rides, air shows, Drifting and Track cars, military display and more. Visitors poured in to Spin the Wheel for prizes, enter our Lucky Draw, view the F1 Powerboat and see the latest CF Moto bikes on show.

Erin and Sharlene got brave and even rode the camels!

QUEENS OF THE OCEAN – ST LUCIA (Aug 28 - 30)

The 5th Ladies-Only Queens comp was fabulously festive, organised to perfection and boasted the best fishing yet! Team CMI sponsored prizes and enjoyed the live entertainment, Round the World party, good food and marvelling at the daily catches.

120 Ladies fished up a storm, proving their worth as anglers. 89 Fish were caught on the first day alone. Noteworthy catches included a 27.1kg King Mackerel, a 23kg Wahoo and a 20.7kg Prodigal Son. Team Valhalla III hooked the Top Boat prize and R60 000 cash for the most species.

ALBERT FALLS BASS CLASSIC (Aug 28 – 30, 2024)

CMI’s David Ledsham joined 220 anglers for the start of the 2025 Albert Falls Bass Classic! He manned CMI's stand, encouraged them to enter our popular free Lucky Draw and handed over prizes before the opening dinner.

Congrats to Kirk van Reeuwyk (our PMB dealer) whose 3.1kg fish won by just 100g! He took home the first prize boat worth R440 000. He and his fishing partner Marc Meyer also took the Team prize of R20 000 cash for the heaviest bag over the two days!
