Great news for all our deepsea anglers… the 2020 Billfish 15000 annual competition will be going ahead with entries now open. This popular competition takes place at Sodwana Bay from 8-13th November 2020.
Organiser Willie Pretorius confirms that permission has been granted for 50 boats and hopes are high that even more will be allowed on Level 1.
Lowrance South Africa is sponsoring the main prize - a Lowrance HDS 16 Live unit with Autopilot worth R138 000.
Club Marine will also be sponsoring prizes!

Congratulations to Rory Barton (17) from Kokstad, the lucky prize-winner of our Skippers Training & VHF Radio course worth R12 600… which has been running on social media since January.
Already a keen rock and surf angler, Rory has dreamed of getting his skippers license, so he can work on yachts overseas once he matriculates – and before he settles down to study agriculture.

If you’re operating a boat on an interim skippers or radio license, which has expired due to Lockdown delays - you can request a renewal from your examiner.
Temporary licenses are only valid for six months from date of issue.

Umhlanga Skiboat Club has just had their first-ever virtually monitored deepsea fishing Interclub. It’s the same tournament, same rules, just without the social gathering (IGFA rules -10kg line).
30 Anglers from Durban, Ballito, St Lucia, Warnadoone and Johannesburg took part - on jetskis (only two-man teams) and boats (only three-man teams).
According to organiser Byron Kane, fish were measured with a specially printed measuring tape sent out to each angler, pictures were sent via WhatsApp and the sizes were computerised to generate weights.
Winners: Umhlanga Skiboat Club Blue took top honours with three species (771,3 points), followed by Durban Skiboat Club Blue team with two species (661,97 points) and in third place - Rod ‘n Reel Black team caught three species (540,51 points).
Club Marine sponsored new CMI neck buffs and caps for the anglers.
