As so many people are working from home – employers need to be aware of the following and give the necessary written instruction (email or WhatsApp) to both employees and your insurance broker/s:

  • High volumes of office equipment may have been relocated to private homes. As the insured, you must ensure that normal risk management and safety standards continue to be exercised over the items concerned while away from the office.

  • Certain sections of a Commercial policy are limited to the Business premises occupied by the insured as described in the policy schedule. Contact us to review your current Business policy covers and for a comparative Quote.

While it may be ‘business unusual’ and many of you are working remotely, please remember that Cyber criminals remain very active during this time.

CMI’s Cyber policy includes costs and damages from a privacy or network security breach and comprehensive first and third-party coverages. We offer expert knowledge and the necessary resources to effectively manage and recover from a cyber incident.

While the Department of Transport has extended various licenses due for renewal during the Lockdown period – you can stay one step ahead and renew your vehicle licence disc online or at various stores (like Spar and Pick ’n Pay) throughout South Africa!

These are some of the questions and answers given by the Road Traffic Management Corporation (RTMC):

Q: Will motorists be prosecuted for expired vehicle discs, drivers’ licences and public drivers permits (PDP) that expire within the 21 days of the lockdown period?

A: Motorists will be reprieved for expired vehicle discs and licences until the lockdown is lifted.

Q: Will an essential worker be charged if found travelling/driving with a license disk that has expired during the lockdown period?

A: Motorists have a 21 days grace period and can renew after the lockdown.

While we may be hamstrung at the moment – we will eventually get back to travelling on holiday, for business or special occasions.

Durban Skiboat Club Interclub

March 15–16 2020

Team Mapelane’s Koenie van der Merwe, Les Hartley, Ivan Hartley and skipper Shaun Aspen….were the delighted winners of the Durban Skiboat Club Interclub fishing competition (held mid-March), – the last event to take place before Lockdown!

Club Marine sponsored prizes in this competition, which included some of the best anglers in the province among the 14 teams fishing for Gamefish (in this 10kg line IGFA competition) – and points.

For some, it was the first step on the ladder to achieving provincial colours, while others worked towards earning their national colours.

Koenie van der Merwe (R) – pictured here with organiser Justin Paynter – was awarded “Angler of the Competition”!

Club Marine Insurance-sponsored Petri de Wet, of the kykNET TV show “Hier Gaan ons Weer”, may be “Locked Down” like the rest of us – but his boat is already hooked, batteries charged and ready for the day it’s all over.

In the meantime, check out his Lockdown message – in which he gives suggestions and tips for your benefit and there are other interesting clips to view on his Facebook page.

As you know… all SADSAA, SABAA fishing competitions and SATWA Waterski tournaments and championships have been cancelled for the immediate future (at least until July 2020).
